9,000 Couples to Marry on Lucky 8/8/2008

The thousands of couples hope to also share in the blessing of the rare and lucky date, similar to the 7/7/07 marriage craze in the US.

“We want to show our support for the Olympics, a century-old dream for China, and take part in a major event,” says Liu Huiling, 24, an office assistant. “Who knows if we will ever see another Olympics?”

Before the couples are actually married they will be asked to sign a billboard stating the governments slogan: “A century of the Olympics; a century-long dream; a century-long prayer for happiness; a century of perfect marriage.”

Today was the first day that couples could register to be officially married on the 8th of August and around 1,000 couples have already registered.

The estimated 9,000 couple wedding record would more than double China’s previous single-day wedding record.

Recycled Bags which are Solar Powered

Although solar bags are nice since they charge up all of our little gadgets through the sun. Not all of them are made out of the greatest materials. It’s always nice to come across a solar bag that is all around good for the environment. As opposed to just having the solar element going for it. Well this line of bags from Sakku uses old sails for the material of the bag itself.

As of now this is only available in the UK, but they are currently working on getting these sold in the US as well. It doesn’t give an official date as to when this will happen, it just says coming soon. A cute little extra is that each bag comes with its own story. They are individually stamped with the name of the lake or sea in which the boat was located that they took the sail off of. The bags range in price from € 175- € 245 or $275-$385. Although keep in mind those may not be the official US prices once the new site is up. As of now that’s just a conversion of the UK prices.

Vancake Camper - Really Lowrider

If there was a limbo competition for cars there is now no question on who the winner would be. How low can the Vancake go? Try this out for size. This mini-Volkswagen bus is only 3-feet and 1-inch tall. Meaning for the average 6 foot man, this automobile only reaches to around the waist area.

Officially known as the Camper, but affectionately titled “Vancake”, this super low-rider is the world’s lowest Volkswagen bus. Call us crazy, but we don’t see this niche having a super stringent competition at this point. And to add even more to its wonderful allure, there’s a little back story to go along with its awesomeness.

Designers Just Kampers and Andy Saunders created the Vancake in only three days! Working away during the Bug Jam festival at the UK’s Santa Pod Raceway from June 18 to June 20, the team managed to remove the Volkswagen’s roof, equip an electric sunroof, and completely redo the car’s previous paint job to give the Vancake a more scaled feel.

The Vancake is not only totally snack sized, but is also totally street legal. The only thing we’d worry about is getting rear-ended by fellow drivers who are fascinated by our tiny car. For only three days of work, we’d say it’s a hell of an accomplishment.

Two Faced Baby - Weird in INDIA

A very special girl was born last March in a small suburb of Delhi, India.

She was born with 4 eyes, 2 noses, 2 mouths, 2 ears, and 1 dimple on a shared cheek.

“I had never seen something like this in my life so naturally I was a little scared when I first saw her,” her father was quoted as saying.

The young girl and her mother are both healthy and the family has no intentions of seeking surgery to correct the deformities.

“The doctor said everything is normal when she was born. So where’s the need to get medical help?” said the child’s father. “She’s fed through one mouth and sucks her thumb with the other. We use whichever mouth is free to feed her.”
