Expensive Aquarium Tank for Fishes

If we lived like our pet fish, then we would all live in studio apartments that would, at best, have more useless space. Now this aquarium is something that would give any fish bragging rights. I mean, I can just see a celebrity fish boasting about this “bowl” on a fish version of Cribs.

I mean, look at the thing! It’s like hamster trails designed for fish! This is definitely one place a fish would not mind sharing with other fish. If Gil, the Willem Dafoe fish from Finding Nemo, was in this castle of a fish tank, he never would have tried to escape. This is what Oscar should be living in when he got rich in Shark Tale. Yeah, not many people make references to the latter movie.

Do you those rich people who spend a lot of money on their pets? Consider this $6500 investment a diamond-studded collar for your fish. Yes, that’s is how much this fish tank (if you can even call it that) actually costs. Why shouldn’t fish get some of the rich-doting action that is usually reserved for dogs and cats?

Fishing Rod for THE STRIKE Game

I remember playing this handheld electronic game ten years ago called Bass Fishin’. I’m sure most of you remember it, because it was quite a big seller. In this game, you had a controller that looked like a fishing rod, and a little screen to show when the fish were ready to be caught. A shaker was also in there, and if you brought up the rod controller at the proper time, you would get points for the fish you caught.

It would appear that Griffin International wants to take this fishing action and put it on the console with The Strike. As you can see, The Strike comes with a fishing rod controller for what one gaming publication has called “the best fishing video game ever created”.

Griffin has said that the game will also feature customizable characters with boats, lures, rods, and reels. Its advanced graphics allow for “realistic lake bottom topography” and “lifelike fish behaviors”.

The Strike will be available during the fall for the Xbox 360, the Nintendo Wii, and the PC. I’m not certain what the price is for the Wii or PC, but the Xbox 360 package with rod controller is planned to be $69.99.

In addition to The Strike, Griffin is also planning on releasing a game based on hunting rather than fishing. The title of this game is simply The Hunt, but I haven’t heard anything about a controller that looks like a hunting rifle.

Robot Fish to monitor Water Pollution

Marine life is tottering under the heavy burden of toxic waste, which as a result of rapid industrialization is being released into seas and rivers all over the world. Researchers at the University of Essex are working on a new robot, which will be equipped with chemical sensors to sniff out pollutants present in water bodies and relay them to their control centers.

The robots will mimic the movement of fish and as they find possible areas of contamination, they will relay the location to other robots in their vicinity using Wi-Fi. Completely autonomous, the robots will have artificial intelligent software that will enable them to navigate on their own. Using GPS, the robots can also return to the control center to deliver information and also recharge their batteries.

The robots will be released in groups, where each group will consist of five fish robots. For now the robots will be set off free in Thames, where they will produce a 3D pollution map, if the tests are successful, they could be used worldwide.
