Sun Jar - A perfect gift for any age

Sun and Moon Jars make a great gift for anyone. Just leave them in the sunlight to charge up (they don't work so well on cloudy days) and then you have a gentle blue or orange glow at night (depending on your choice of jar).

* Winner of the Eco Friendly Gift of the Year Award
* Free sunlight forever
* Rechargeable battery
* Energy efficient LED light
* Automatic switch activates Jars when it gets dark and can be switched off
* Natural orange or soothing blue glow
* Waterproof
* Great for barbecues and camping trips
* 5 hours light from one charge

The light isn't really bright enough to read by unless you have the jar very close to the page but they are useful at night for finding your way around, plus, you save on electricity by not switching lights on and off. Being weatherproof, they make a great addition to the garden and by setting the Jar to come on automatically when it's dark, you can have an interesting glow in your garden.”

Water Powered Flashlight Lantern

If you’re looking for a flashlight with renewable energy, you’ll have plenty of options out there. Firstly there are several different sizes, but then you get to choose between solar, wind-up and shakeable. Well now you get one more choice to pick from. This flashlight is actually powered by water, which would make them highly convenient while you’re out camping.

Not only will this light work just like your average flashlight, but it also can be used as a regular lantern by just making some simple adjustments. It’s probably not going to be as great as the oversized lanterns that many people use. However, this would be better than nothing, especially if you were to put it within an emergency kit of some kind. In order to work it, you just have to fill up the battery with water. It’ll also run on beer, coke and even urine. You can purchase the NoPoPo Water-Powered Flashlight for $54 from the Japan Trend Shop.

Air Horn that can be refilled - Annoying Gadget

ecoblaster-air-horn

This is one of those inventions most of the world really would probably wish it was never created. To be more specific everyone around the person that owns one of these will really really wish that it would just break. It can be reused time and time again, you’ll never need a refill for it like you would a normal air horn. Which means misery for all those around the person that owns it, up until they wise up and “accidentally” smash it.

The horn blares just as loud as all air horns. In order to keep it going you refill it with the included pump or any bicycle pump or service station air pump. Each time you recharge it or fill it up using a pump it will get you 70 excessively loud blasts. The fun will just keep on coming. Not only is it meant for sports fans or those that just enjoy annoying others but for boaters as well. You can purchase the Eco blaster Rechargeable Air Horn for $29.98 from Things You Never Knew Existed.

Now a car park that produce energy for supermarket

Energy conservation: a power-generating parking lot. It works with a series of plates that create a rocking motion when cars drive over them. The rocking motion can turn generators and thus make power.

I am surprised with the amount of power that is generated in this as this method can generate 30 Kilowatts of energy per hour, to be exact. You may not think that isn’t enough, but it could be enough to power the store, including the registers.

This is the real Transformer Bot - Eco Friendly

Everyone likes to own a real transforming robot and guess what now you can because this is a real transforming robot and it’s even eco-friendly. It can change into a total of 6 different robots, giving you plenty of ways to keep yourself entertained. It’s a great and pretty much pointless way to enjoy solar power. Not all solar power really needs to have a point though and this would also be a fun thing to enjoy with your children.

It can change from a robotic dog, to a boat, moving plane, car, windmill and lastly a desktop plane. If you run out of sunlight for some reason, you can also charge this up by utilizing a 50 watt bulb or brighter.

There are a grand total of 25 parts and no screws. Since there are so many parts, this is probably something you should help your kids with if you give it to them. You can pick it up for £13.00 or about $21 from Red5.

Eco Friendly Foot Powered Charger

The UK cellular company Orange has figured out how to channel the power of a good idea. In fact, this device can “generate enough energy to power five minutes of call time in the time it takes to inflate a pillow”.

The press release says that it is “no bigger than a packet of Wet Wipes” for a size comparison. Clearly, this Orange Power Pump must be targeted for parents, who know what it is like to travel with Wet Wipes. Orange plans to display this Power Pump at the Glastonbury 2009 Festival, but there is no word on a price. I think that these foot pumps are probably the way to go green and eco-friendly.

A bomb that doesnt destroy anything instead it grows...

Everyone know that a bomb is a weapon of destruction and we have seen many incidents justifying it this bomb is one of its kind that doesnt destroy anything, instead it plants seeds.

The concept is amazingly simple and represents the coolness of out of the box thinking. Instead of tiny bombs known as “bomblets” or anti personnel mines, the SeedBomb has Seed capsules aligned in a cluster configuration.

Each cluster of capsules is packed into a single bomb with dozens of others and when the bomb reaches optimum altitude, the clusters are released to embed all around the impact area. Each capsule contains soil and seeds housed in a biodegradable plastic. The soil is packed with plant rich nutrients and moisture enough to allow the plant seed to germinate (the plastic canister acts as a defacto greenhouse) and grow until the plant can sustain itself. As the plant matures, the biodegradable plastic canister deteriorates until there’s nothing left.

Google is real serious about going green

Google’s innovative “California Grazing” start-up is simply an awesome idea that can be called a complete pollution free way to remove grass from fields. Instead of using lawn mowers or any other machinery, Google decided to hire goats to cut its Mountain View in California. No need to explain how this method is greener than any other. No electricity, no fuel consumption, and therefore, no emissions. Google wants to get rid of the weeds and brush growing in the peripheral fields, as it can cause wildfires.

To execute the plan, 200 goats were hired that will graze in the area for a week. One more advantage of hiring goats is that their waste will provide free fertilizer. I don’t think there can be a greener idea than this one. Big firms can take a lesson from Google in the present times of energy crisis. However, these goats cost the same as the mowers.

Recycling now is simple with this

Envirobank has figured out a way that consumers can deposit their recyclables in a conveniently located machine, and give them a cash reward for their ecologically sound actions. These machines have been called “reverse vending machines” as users give aluminum cans to the machine, and it gives them money right back.

In addition to aluminum cans, these machines accept PET, HDPE, and PVC recyclable materials as well as brown, clear, and green glass. My sources say that some of these machines can hold up to 3,000 containers.

I am assuming that some recycler eventually comes by and picks up all the drop-offs, replenishes the money slot, and the recyclables will already be cleaned and crushed. I believe that in order to receive the payments for the recycled trash, the user needs to watch a video via an LCD screen on the machine itself.

This new system of reverse vending machines has already been deployed in Australia, but only on a trial basis. Personally, I think a system like this could easily change the world, and maybe even save the Earth in the process.

Robot Fish to monitor Water Pollution

Marine life is tottering under the heavy burden of toxic waste, which as a result of rapid industrialization is being released into seas and rivers all over the world. Researchers at the University of Essex are working on a new robot, which will be equipped with chemical sensors to sniff out pollutants present in water bodies and relay them to their control centers.

The robots will mimic the movement of fish and as they find possible areas of contamination, they will relay the location to other robots in their vicinity using Wi-Fi. Completely autonomous, the robots will have artificial intelligent software that will enable them to navigate on their own. Using GPS, the robots can also return to the control center to deliver information and also recharge their batteries.

The robots will be released in groups, where each group will consist of five fish robots. For now the robots will be set off free in Thames, where they will produce a 3D pollution map, if the tests are successful, they could be used worldwide.

Eco-Friendly Boston Batteries for HP laptops

Popular computer manufacturer, HP has announced a new range of notebook batteries developed by Boston Power, which will be available for 18 models developed by the company and will be available with a 3-year warranty. HP is promoting these new batteries under the “Enviro” name to emphasize their environmental attributes.

Costing around $150, these new batteries are available online and as claimed by HP, will be a longer-lasting alternative to the batteries your notebooks are currently equipped with. Apart from a longer backup time, the batteries warranty period will ensure that the number of batteries discarded every year is reduced considerably. While common notebook batteries start to lose performance after 100 or 150 charges, Boston Power says that these new batteries can be charged 1,000 times and get “like new” performance.

The Only thing is that these batteries cost about $30 more than the conventional batteries your notebook was shipped with. However, for the sake of the environment and to reduce the amount of toxic waste entering the ecosystem, it’s a little price to pay.

Self Powered MP3 Player - Wind-up

Everyone likes those gadgets that doesn't need to charged up or any batteries to make it work. One such gadget is this wind up MP3 Player. It doesn't use any external chargers or batteries.

Everyone find this as a not so attractive MP3 player. It’s bulky and awkward due to the wind-up handle.There’s absolutely nothing eye catching about it and if I saw it lying out I’d never realize it were an MP3 player. However, looks aside, the MP3 player quite obviously has one serious perk, it’s very earth friendly.

To charge up the MP3 player you’ll have to wind it up and no batteries are required. One minute of you cranking it equals out to fifteen to twenty minutes of music. You could also utilize that charge to work the built-in flashlight or even use the mobile phone charger that’s also built into the little device. The MP3 player has 1GB of internal memory.You can pick up the MP3 player for £39.10 or about $58.

Coffee Mug with a message

What looks like an ordinary coffee mug actually will show us the impact of global warming.

Still many people doesn't know the consequence of a global warming and for those kind of people this mug will be perfect. Because this mug actually shows the result of global warming when you pour hot coffee or tea. As soon as you pour some hot drinks in the mug you could see the land masses around the mug disappear in a jiffy,

Which refers to that Oceans start to spread across the coastlines as ice caps melt and water levels rise. This mug was designed to make people aware of the global warming. It really is the ideal cautionary gift for eco-unfriendly tea/coffee drinkers everywhere
